Hello and thanks for visiting me today, I had to share this very unique item that I found this weekend. I found it at the Potatoe Barn Antique Store in West Branch, MI. I have never seen anything like it. It is all made of antique brass, it is an egg holder and it has a wish bone attached. I love wish bones, to me they are a sign of good luck. I picked it up and then put it down, but I just had to buy it, mostly for the fact it is so unique and I love how ornate it is. The only problem is I can't find an egg that fits in it. Regular eggs are too big and I have some quail eggs and they are too small, so now I am on a search for eggs. I also had some fake eggs and they are either too big or too small. First, I collected eggs all of my young life - seemed to get one every birthday and every holiday from someone, so I share your adoration for this very lovely holder. Now it will be fun to look for just the right egg to put in it.
ReplyDeleteI loved your Alaska pictures. My daughter went on an Alaskan cruise that started in Seattle in the second half of July. It would be so funny if you were there at the same time. Her pictures are not as gorgeous as yours - if the pictures are that good, I can only imagine how breathtaking the sights were.
And I so love your appreciation of tea cups and china. When I was little my grandmother had a collection of small tea cups, not miniature but not full size. I played and played and played with them, carefully of course - each one different from the others. How I wish I would have it now. For some reason, after she passed away, though I requested it, boxes got mixed up and it was sold at an auction before I realized it.
Your Marie book is gorgeous as are all of your creations. So happy to visit you today - it lifted my spirits and put me in a happy place. So many pretty things to see!

Very cute - I have a similar one in silver plate. Mine also has a little chick on it, which is why I bought it. Have you tried "small" eggs from the grocery store?
